Ready to take a break from the "world of outdoor activities?" Begin by exploring all of the sights of the Great Room. It is wonderfully decorated with various stuffed wildlife, numerous bear rugs, a specially-carved coffee table, and assorted deer and moose trophies.
Enjoy a night of activities in our lodge game room, complete with pool table, foosball, pinball and shuffleboard. Spend a fun-filled evening snug inside playing your favorite game.
Not interested in a game of pool? Relax in front of a large screen TV and pick from our "in-house" movies. If a challenging board game suits your taste, then try your skill at Chinese checkers or sit back and read one of many coffee table books.
Our lodge gift shop offers a variety of quaint knickknacks to purchase. Be sure to greet the gift shop bear as you enter...just don't try to feed him!
If it's summer and you would rather be outdoors, our lodge offers a choice between a dip in the outdoor pool, a game of shuffleboard, horseshoes or bocci.
Recreational Activities
Enter Moose River, Maine and enter a "World of Outdoor Activities". Throughout the entire year, Moose River offers a wide variety of outdoor endeavors for the discriminating traveler. Whether it is golfing, whitewater rafting, hunting, hiking, snowmobiling or skiing there is always something to do in the Moose River Valley.
If hunting is your sport of choice the Jackman/Moose River region is the perfect place for you. With hundreds of miles of wilderness and an abundance of game, you may set out on your own or with a guide and bring home that trophy buck, moose, bear or birds.
During the winter season the Jackman/Moose River region is the gateway to an extensive network of snowmobile trails and spectacular scenery. Ride mile after mile on expertly groomed trails, over frozen brooks and past a multitude of trees weighed down with newly fallen snow. Take an ITS north to Canada, south to The Forks, or east to Rockwood and Greenville. The travel area is virtually boundless, covering over 200 miles of scenic woodlands. No matter what the season you’ll want to include a trip to Quebec City located only 2 1/2 hours from Jackman. Explore all the sights of a major city with the added charm of European styling. Be sure to visit the Chateau Frontenac and the Plains of Abraham, two of many must-see sites.
One of the best summertime activities is certainly whitewater rafting. Let Sky Lodge arrange your adventure for you. Take an exciting trip down the Kennebec River and bring back a raft load of stories and pictures. Personal guides will navigate you through the Kennebec Gorge, with its towering canyon walls and rapids such as "Big Mama", "Whitewash" and "Magic Falls". Experience one big wave after another! Enjoy a riverside picnic lunch on the lower section, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the wilderness. This fourteen mile stretch guarantees consistent water flows daily from May to September and is excellent for both first-time and seasoned paddlers. A suggested minimum age of ten for the upper section varies by outfitter. Call for details.
The Dead River is another whitewater trip available on selected dates throughout the season. Experience sixteen miles of almost continuous action through such rapids as "Elephant Rock" and "Poplar Falls". A suggested minimum age of 14 varies by outfitter. Call for details.
If whitewater rafting is too much excitement for you, take a leisurely, scenic canoe trip on one or more of Jackman/Moose River's many area ponds and lakes. Set a course on the 34 mile "Moose River Bow Trip", one of the most outstanding canoe trips in Maine. Almost as pristine is a six mile paddle down the Moose River to Long Pond. As with any trip, be sure to take special precautions and consider hiring a local guide to make your trip more enjoyable and safe.

Whether you are a mountain biking enthusiast or just a beginner, you can enjoy breathtaking and scenic rides along over fifty miles of marked trails in the greater Jackman/Moose River area. Choose between several trails such as the "Sandy Bay Loop", "Rancourt Pond", "Attean Township Logging Roads" or the "Jackman to Rockwood Trail", each with varying degrees of difficulty. Enjoy a great closeness with nature as you peddle by deer, moose or other abundant wildlife that's all part of vacationing in this mountainous corner of Maine.
For anyone who likes to surround themselves with nature on its most intimate level, an early morning or afternoon hike on one of many area trails is most rewarding. Trails range from easy to strenuous and provide a multitude of wilderness sights. Hike to Moxie Falls, Enchanted Pond, Coburn Mountain, Sally Mountain or Boundary Bald Mountain just to name a few, and spend a fun-filled day with family or friends. Inquire at the Jackman Chamber of Commerce to receive full information on directions and degrees of difficulty to make your journey fun and trouble free.
Enjoy Jackman’s tennis and basketball courts as well as their Town Beach. Play a round of golf at Moose River’s nine-hole golf course. Or how about a scenic float plane ride to view the splendid Jackman/Moose River region from a breathtakingly different vantage point? As one can see, there is indeed a "World of Outdoor Activities" in Jackman, Maine.
